Children and Chiropractic

From postural checks to trauma recovery, all our Chiropractors have clinical experience treating children from newborns through to adolescents

Children can undergo trauma and stress which may have impact on their development, movement and health. Some examples of trauma include the birthing process, falls, sports injuries and even heavy school bags.

Our Chiropractors can assess and treat children for:

  • Neuro development such as primitive and postural reflexes and deep tendon reflexes.

  • Muscle tone.

  • Fine and gross motor development.

  • Balance and coordination.

  • Assessing for plagiocephaly (flat head).

  • Assessing hip and shoulder stability.

As your children grow...

We can perform postural checks, treat sporting injuries, assess backpacks and care for your child’s spine through all stages of development.

The care that we provide is gentle and age appropriate.

All of our Chiropractors have extensive clinical experience working with children from newborns through to adolescents. They have also undergone further Chiropractic training in children’s health, with both Dr Kimberli and Dr Roelien having completed the Diplomate of Australian College of Chiropractic Paediatrics.

What to expect when you bring your child to Oasis Chiropractic...

1 First visit

The first visit is an assessment visit. The more we understand your problem and health history, the more we can help you. We will ask you to fill out a health history form and we will discuss any specific health issues you are experiencing.

Following this we will undertake a thorough neurological, orthopaedic, chiropractic and physical exam which may include us requesting further imaging such as X-Rays, CT’s or MRI’s. Typically, this is not required for children. If X-Rays are necessary, we have state of the art digital X-Ray services available on site.

Depending on your presentation we may begin care on this visit, although often the results of further imaging or tests are required before we start care.

Please allow 45 minutes for this appointment.

2 Second visit

The second visit is where we discuss results and begin treatment. We will have the imaging and examination results on hand and will explain what they show, how they relate to your health status and how we can help you. After answering all your questions, we will outline your choices of care, fully explaining how long each will take and how much it will cost.

Please allow 30 minutes for this appointment.

3 Regular visits

Regular visits are short but just as important! On these visits we continue your care and update you on your progress. On some visits we will redo important tests to further track your progress so we can continue to monitor your improvements.

Typically, these visits last 5-10 min; we value your time so, in most cases we will see you at, or very close to scheduled appointment time. To make your stay more comfortable we have an information library, a cosy couch, a kid’s play area, feeding zone and baby change table.

If you have any questions or would like to book an appointment please call us or send an enquiry.
